Therapeutic Interventions
Since everyone is different and are facing their own unique problems I use a variety of techniques and modalities to help give you a personalized treatment plan. These plans are fluid and will change if certain modalities are not working for you. This is common as everyone learns different, and something can resonate for one person but fall flat for another. Some of the therapeutic methods I utilize are:
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes finding solutions in the present and exploring hope for the future rather than focusing on past problems. It is a goal-oriented method that encourages clients to envision their desired outcomes and identify the steps needed to achieve them. By leveraging the client's strengths and resources, SFBT fosters a positive and collaborative environment, helping individuals make meaningful changes in a relatively short period. This approach is particularly effective for those seeking quick, practical strategies for personal growth and problem-solving.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach to mental health treatment It focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. By helping individuals develop healthier thinking habits, CBT aims to improve emotional regulation and promote coping strategies for dealing with life's challenges. This evidence-based therapy is effective for various conditions, including anxiety, depression, and stress-related issues.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic model developed by Richard Schwartz that views the mind as a system of distinct parts or sub-personalities, each with its own perspectives, memories, and roles These parts often include the Self, which represents the core of our being, and other parts that may hold onto past experiences and emotions. IFS helps individuals to recognize and understand these internal parts, fostering self-compassion healing through dialogue and integration. This approach aims to create harmony within the internal system, leading to improved emotional-being and personal growth.
Mindfulness in therapy involves cultivating a heightened awareness of the present moment, allowing individuals to observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment. This practice helps clients develop coping strategies, reduce stress, and enhance emotional regulation. By integrating mindfulness techniques, therapists can guide individuals toward greater self-acceptance and improved mental well-being. Ultimately, mindfulness fosters a deeper connection to oneself and promotes healing awareness.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness, often referred to as a trance. In this state, individuals can explore thoughts, feelings, and memories that may be affecting their well-being. Hypnotherapy is commonly used to help manage stress, anxiety, and pain, and can also support behavioral changes such as quitting smoking or losing weight. It is a safe and effective approach that encourages personal empowerment and self-discovery.
Narrative Therapy is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes the importance of personal stories in shaping identity and experiences. It encourages individuals to explore and reframe their narratives, allowing them to gain insight into their challenges and strengths. By externalizing problems and viewing them as separate from the self, clients can empower themselves to create more positive and meaningful life stories. This collaborative process fosters healing and personal growth through the exploration of one's unique narrative.

More About me...
I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
I have called the Okanagan home since 2013 and absolutely love the community! I was born and raised in Prince George and understand the difficulties that northern communities have to face. I use that knowledge to work with those communities remotely as mental health services can be harder to find in smaller communities. I have also found that experience is the best teacher, and therefore I never ask my clients to do anything I have not done myself. I have overcome many obstacles in my own life, which has lead me to my current path. From substance reliance, losing loved ones, separations, critical illness, insecurities, anger issues, relationship issues, and more I have experienced many of the difficulties life has for us. I do not claim to know what you are going through, as each individual and instance is unique, but know that I truly do care. Before entering the counselling field I worked in the trades and hold a red seal in collision repair. This gives me great insight into the lives and struggles many men in the trades face. I still love working on my own projects and love "shop talk."
I have a diploma of professional counselling and am working towards a masters as well. I also attend various other courses and hold certifications in varies areas. In short I believe that I not only "talk the talk" but also "walk the walk" and I am here to help you create the a life you love.
